Perfectly Good Words
I refuse to stop using perfectly good words because someone may choose to be offended by them. It is not the words that are bad just the way they are used. In this society more and more words are being given negative connotation which I find utterly ridiculous. We will soon be using grunts to communicate because none of the spoken word will be considered appropriate for use. I am amused that I was thinking on this particular subject and found out about a flap using the word retarded. So I looked up the word in the dictionary. retard: vt : to slow up or hold back. retarded: adj : slow or limited in intellectual or emotional development or academic progress. retardation: n 1 : an act or instance of retarding. 2 ; the extent to which something is retarded. 3 : an abnormal slowness of mental or bodily development.
